The Manager, Digital Solutions, Product Strategy and Sales Initiatives, Adjacent Markets is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the digital solutions product management and product marketing and responsible for the marketing to the vertical of virtuals with other HMH products. Primary responsibilities include product management of existing and new products, developing marketing plans including collateral materials and activities, and supporting the field sales organization by providing/contributing to training materials, developing sales initiatives and responding to specific sales efforts.
Additional responsibilities include executing marketing plans, product launch and maintenance activities, and competitive selling support.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Product Management: Works with the Director, Product Strategy and Sales Initiatives to manage the digital solutions product line.This includes but is not limited to:
• Participates in product planning and development in collaboration with Adjacent Markets management
• Represents customer, sales force, and competitive needs in product management process
• Participates in and executes the long-term competitive and strategic plans for product line including full life cycle view of programs and exit strategies for non-competitive products
• Researches market data to support publishing decisions
• Participates in development of partnerships and affiliations to enhance marketability of products/product line as directed by management
• Completes alignment of current products to other products, tests as directed
• Plans new product configurations, packaging, strategic sales offerings, and value bundles

2. Product and Vertical Marketing: Works with other Adjacent Markets colleagues to develop and execute product and vertical marketing plans. This includes but is not limited to:
• Sets marketing strategy for product line. Initiates, recommends, and approves such strategies and changes in product line marketing to maintain and enhance sales and market share.
• Develops and monitors national marketing plan(s) and/or promotional campaigns for both product and vertical
•Contributes to regional sales planning and provides sales campaign support
• Identifies and modifies product positioning strategies and sales cases.
• Anticipates, monitors, and responds to competitive issues.
• Oversees development of competitive information for sales.

3. Sales Support and Training:: Works with the Adjacent Markets colleagues and management to problem solve, troubleshoot, facilitate, and coordinate activities related to sales and driving revenue. This includes but is not limited to:
• Develops product training for Adjacent markets sales force, inside sales, support staff.
• Works with Sales Enablement to develop LMS product modules for digital solution products
• Works with Curriculum Support to develop PD for sales support for digital solution products
• Contributes to the development of sales presentation materials including overall messaging, positioning, competition
• Contributes as content expert for RFP responses

4. Communication: Works as a member of the Product Strategy and Sales Initiatives team and contributes as an individual and as a colleague in group settings.
• Responds to directives from management in a timely manner.
• Works collaboratively with senior management to execute product plans.
• Collaborates with colleagues within Product Strategy and Sales Initiatives department on product and vertical marketing efforts, regional marketing planning and execution.
• Maintains strong, ongoing channels of communication with the sales force and with other internal departments in and outside of Adjacent Markets as necessary and directed by management.

Requirements:
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
• Product management skills: ability to plan for product line including configurations, packaging, marketing, sales programs
• Ability to proactively implement organizational and process change in response to product needs
• Strong leadership qualities: Able to influence and motivate others to achieve product goals.
• Strong listening, planning, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Project management skills: ability to multitask: organize and manage work to meet deadlines.
• Proactively identifies and resolves problems.
• Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision
• Strong computer Skills: Microsoft Office, and other office automation software; understanding the fundamentals of SalesForce, SAP, and other business-specific software applications as needed.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree required
• 5+ years of experience in educational publishing
• Demonstrated expertise in product and project management
• Superior communication skills-verbal, written, presentation
• Superior inter-personal skills at all levels including senior leadership
